Work Visa for Canada - Nurse

Hi!

I am a Filipina nurse presently residing in Doha,Qatar.

Can I possibly apply for a work visa upon arrival in Canada, even if i do not have an employer yet?

I would like to apply for a temporary resident visa and look for a job there in Canada.

First let me emphasize that I am not an immigration officer.

I have looked into your question and found out the following:

Citizens of the Philippines require a visa to enter Canada.

However, you will have to check with the Canadian Embassy in UAE (which serves nationals and residents of Qatar), if you are allowed (as a Philippines citizen) to apply for a temporary resident visa through the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

As regards to applying for a work visa from inside Canada - You almost always have to apply for a work permit from outside Canada. You can find more information about Applying to change conditions or extend your visitor stay in Canada in here

One more thing - You should look into the Canadian requirements for Licensed Practical Nurses, for Registered Nurses , and check out the requirements for working in Canada.
