Work from home on dependent visa in Switzerland?

by Leena
(Ghaziabad, UP, India)

Hi Sharon

My husband is going to Switzerland on a work permit and I and my baby would accompany him on dependent visa.

I currently work in India and use to do work from home.

Can I accompany my husband in Switzerland on dependent visa and continue work from home (in Switzerland) for the company in India? If yes then its great, else what I need to do so?

Thanks, Leena

Work from home on dependent visa in Switzerland?
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Leena

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer).

In General a holder of a NON EU dependent visa is not allowed to work in Switzerland.

However, I am not sure about the regulations in regards to working at home (Switzerland) for an Indian company that pays your salary in India (means no foreign money is entering to Switzerland), and also what are the tax implications of this scenario.

The best thing is to check this directly with the Embassy of Switzerland in India, or with Switzerland?s Federal office of migration .

Please come back and update us about the outcome of your case.

Best of Luck
Sharon
