What should I expect in my Canadian student visa interview?

by Sunita
(Glasgow)

Dear Sharon,

I am Sunita from Glasgow again. I hope you know me. Your help is really appreciating as it provides a good suggestion.

As I told you applied for my student visa and my husband as my dependent. I got an email from visa officer asking for telephone interview.

In this case what I would expect from them? Like what type of questions would they ask? I am a bit worried about it.

I hope you will help me providing some ideas regarding the interview.

Just crossing the fingers.

Cheers
Sunita,Glasgow

What should I expect in my Canadian student visa interview?
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Sunita

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer)

I am not sure what questions you will be asked in the interview.

I searched the web and there are many suggestions out there like questions about why did you decide to study in Canada? Why did you choose this specific program and how does it relate to your previous studies? How do you plan to fund your studies and living in Canada? What are your future plans? What will your spouse do in Canada? etc?.

I would suggest that you go over all the documents that you have submitted with your Canadian student visa application, try to put yourself in the place of the Canadian visa officer and ask yourself what questions can your documents raise? Where can you elaborate more about your situation and intentions? And prepare yourself by answering those questions.

In any case it is advisable to answer truthfully in your visa interview.

Please come back to tell us how it went and what were you asked.

Best of Luck
Sharon
