(Ahmedabad,Gujarat,india)

Hello Sharon,

I am a Registered Nurse in India I have done General Nursing and Midwifery 3 years fulltime diploma course, and I have 3 years plus experience in India.

I want to migrate to Canada with my husband.

I have some questions maybe you can help me?

1) What are the steps I will need to perform to Migrate to Canada?

2) How many points are required in the IELTS test?

3) How many points are required to submit a Canadian PR application?

4) Should I get direct job in nursing in Canada?

Thanks
Tanmay

A permanent residence in Canada
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Hi Tanmay

Thanks for your inquiry (Please note that I am not an immigration officer)

1. As a registered nurse you may apply to immigrate to Canada under the skilled worker class. Skilled workers are selected as permanent residents based on their education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other criteria that have been shown to help them become economically established in Canada.
Click here to learn more about the steps you need to take.

2. Re IELTS requirements - The language requirements to become licensed/registered to practice as a registered nurse in Canada vary by province and territory.

In here for example you can find the English language requirements for Alberta.

3. Re points that are required to submit an application for a permanent residence in Canada - You can assess your qualifications using the skilled worker self-assessment test from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The test is available in here.

The current pass mark is 67 points for all factors combined. If your score is the same or higher than the pass mark, then you may qualify to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker.

4. According to Canada Citizenship and immigration there is a limit(cap) on the number of complete applications considered for processing. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will only consider a maximum of 20,000 complete applications under the occupation list. Within the 20,000 cap, a maximum of 1,000 federal skilled worker applications per occupation will be considered for processing each year.

However there is no limit to the number of applicants with a job offer. So if you have a job offer your chances to receive a permanent residence in Canada might be higher.

Best of Luck
Sharon

Dear Kanika Mittal

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer)

If you are from India you can try to apply for the SPP student visa.

You can find at the following link information about the SPP visa program

After you finish your studies in Canada you can consider to apply for the Canadian Experience Class program.

Best of Luck
Sharon
