US Student Starting University On September 6th in Victoria

Hi Sharon

My Daughter is enrolled at the University of Victoria and scheduled to start classes on September 6th, 2011.

I'm very concerned that she will not have her Student Permit when we arrive in Victoria on August 27th.

The permit application was completed on-line and she has a valid passport.

Can I expect that she'll be able to get started while her permit is pending?

I'm very concerned that she may not be able to get started on time.

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer).

The processing time of a Canadian student visa varies. Each Canadian Consulate in the U.S.A has its own processing time. For example in Buffalo it takes 8 weeks to process a Canadian student Visa and in New-York it takes 5 weeks.

In general you must have a Valid Canadian study permit to study in Canada.
