Studying in Canada - Bringing spouse and depaendent child
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Hi Radha

Thanks for you inquiry

I would like to emphasize that I am not an immigration officer.

I have looked into your question and found the following:

Before you can apply for a study permit, you must have been accepted at a recognized school, university or college in Canada.

You can find information on how to choose a school, college or university in here

Your spouse and dependent children can accompany you to Canada, or they may join you at a later date. You must include them on your student visa application.

If your family members wish to follow you to Canada at a later date, they must make a separate application for admission.

Important tip: The government of Canada does not pay for the medical costs of foreign students. Health coverage for foreign students varies between provinces. Contact the school at which you are applying to receive more information about medical coverage and health insurance.

You can start by consulting the following expatriates health insurance companies:

Global Medical Insurance.

MultiNational Underwriters .

Good Luck
Sharon

Can my children (ages 5-11) go to school in Canada while I am in the university there?

Dear

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer)

According to Canada CIC -

"Your accompanying children may attend school in Canada. You must apply for their study permit at the same time as your application."

Best of Luck
Sharon
