Hi Sharon!

I intend to study at a Canadian university next year, and I want to bring my mother (45) and brother (24) along with me. I am 22 years old.

I have read that you can bring a spouse or dependent children with no special problems, but what about other family members?

Hi Constantine

Thanks for your inquiry.

According to Citizen and Immigration Canada family members may either accompany you to Canada or they may join you at a later date.

Family members are the immediate members of your family. Your spouse or common-law partner and your dependent children are your family members.

Therefore your mother and brother won't be able to accompany you to Canada.
If they want to join you in Canada they will need to apply separately for a study, work or immigration visa to Canada.
