Study Visa to Canada and Accompanying Husband

Hi Sharon

I am from India. I want to go to canada for a PG diploma .

I am married and I want my husband to accompany me to Canada.

Is it possible that we both apply at the same time and will it affect my visa approval as I have heard that the probability of Canadian student visa approval decreases when your spouse accompany you.

Dear Madam

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer)

According to the Embassy of Canada in India "If you proceed to Canada alone, it is possible that your dependants will not be able to join you there. If you wish your spouse and / or child to accompany you to Canada or to join you at a later date, you must provide proof that you will be able to support them."

And also

"If you apply for a temporary resident visa, a study permit or a work permit, you should submit your application at the same time as your spouse or common-law partner, when possible. If you are married, you should provide a copy of your marriage certificate."

So I guess that if you want your spouse to accompany you to Canada then it is better to apply at the same time.

As regards to approval chances - I do not know as each Canadian student visa application is assessed on its own mmerit.
