Hi Sharon!

I'm a live-in nanny now & plan to study after I finished my 24 months as a nanny.

Is it possible for me to enroll in college after I submitted my application for open/PR permit?

Dear Lyn

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer).

According to Canada citizenship and immigration as a permanent resident of Canada, you receive certain rights and privileges, even though you remain a citizen of your home country.

One of this privileges is to live, work or study anywhere in Canada.

However you must take into consideration the time it takes to process a Canadian permanent resident application for a live-in caregiver.

According to the published processing time of a live-in caregiver permanent resident application it can take up to 32 months to reach a decision.

You most probably won't be able to study in Canada if your permanent resident application is still in process.

Despite the above, you might still be able to study in Canada while you work as a live-in caregiver.
