Hi Sharon

My boyfriend is planning to go to canada in Jan on a student visa. If we get married before Jan can I accompany him to canada?

He told me that after each semester he will get 3 months vacation. Is it possible for him to come to Kerala within the three months vacation?

If he marries me within the vacation will I be able to accompany him when he goes back to canada?

Dear Leiza

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer).

If you marry your boyfriend you may accompany him or visit him while he is in Canada, provided that you meet all the normal requirements for temporary residence in Canada, and provide a copy of your marriage certificate.

You should submit your visa application at the same time as your spouse, when possible.

If your boyfriend is planning on coming back to Saudi Arabia on his holidays and after that returning to Canada to continue his studies he should make sure that his Canadian temporary resident visa and Canadian study permit are still valid when he returns. In addition his passport must also be valid.

He should also check if his Canadian temporary resident visa is a multiple entry visa which allows him to enter Canada from any country multiple times during the validity of the visa.
