Student Visa for Canada

by Alam
(Dhaka / Bangladesh)

Hi Sharon

My name is Alam and I am from Bangladesh.

I want to go and study in Canada.

My question is regarding on how I can satisfy the Canadian embassy that my main intension is to study.

I don't come from a very good family and my uncle in America will pay my tuition fee, and my living expenses in Canada.

Also around how much do I need to show on my bank statement for the student visa to be satisfactory.

Please reply.

Thank You
Alam

Student Visa for Canada
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Alam

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer).

According to Canada Citizenship and Immigration "in applying for a study permit, a student must clearly demonstrate to the visa officer that he intends to respect the requirement of his study permit and leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay".

You should therefore convince the immigration officer that you have obligations and ties in your home country and that you are planning on returning back home after your studies.

However please note that Canada do recognize the possibility of dual Intent.

Re funds - according to Canada Citizenship and Immigration "you must demonstrate that you will have enough money during your stay in Canada to pay for tuition fees, books, living expenses for yourself and return transportation for yourself.

You will require approximately $10 000 Canadian per year, not including tuition fees, to cover your living expenses"

Best of Luck
Sharon
