Student Visa for Canada Refused

by Mastikh
(India)

Hi Sharon

I applied for student visa in Canada, but unfortunately Canadian Visa Officer refused my student visa application.

The Embassy gave me a letter and mentioned that I will not leave Canada after completion of the study.

The Embassy did not mention any specific reason for this.

Can you give me some tips about this?

Thanks
Mastikh

Student Visa for Canada Refused
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Mastikh

Thanks for your inquiry

First let me emphasize that I am not an immigration officer

I looked into your question and found out the following:

The Canadian Embassy in India states:

"Study Permits are issued for the sole, temporary purpose of authorizing your studies in Canada. If you are applying for a study permit primarily in order to get into Canada to obtain permanent residence, to work, or for any other purpose other than studying, it is very likely that your application will be refused."

You have mentioned that on the refusal letter it says - That you will not leave Canada after completion of the study.

This implies that the Canadian immigration officer suspected that you might stay in Canada after you complete your studies, and therefore your visa application was refused.

As to what you can do about it? Apparently not very much.

According to what is published on the website of the Canadian government:

"Written reasons for the refusal are given to unsuccessful Study Permit applicants. Once you are in possession of the written reasons, there are limited avenues for appeal. There is no formal appeal mechanism for refused Study Permit applications.

The Visa Section is not able to assist with the refund of school fees.

If your circumstances have changed appreciably and you believe that it would result in a different decision, you may wish to reapply. If, however, there is no change in your situation, then it is unlikely that your application would result in the issuance of a Study Permit."

Study Permit Refused by the Canadian Embassy
by: Anonymous

Hi Sharon

I have applied for study permit at the Canadian embassy in Malaysia.

Although I have won the scholarship from Canada one popular university, they commented I will not be back and not enough funding to live in Canada.

I have received a scholarship of CDN 27,000 per year up to 4 years. I have showed bank statement of around CDN 3000 into my personal account for plain fair.

I am planning to resubmit my papers and will be paid more money than before. Should I expect now to get a positive response from the embassy??

What do you think??

Please advise me what should I do.

Thanks

Hi

Let me first emphasize that I am not an immigration officer.

You have mentioned that the Embassy of Canada in Malaysia has stated two reasons for refusing your application for a study permit to Canada

1. Intention to stay in Canada after completion of your studies

2. Not enough money

You also stated that you would like to resubmit your application and that you will be paid more money than before.

As per the Canadian Embassy - If your circumstances have changed appreciably and you believe that it would result in a different decision, you may wish to reapply. If, however, there is no change in your situation, then it is unlikely that your application would result in the issuance of a Study Permit."

You can try to reapply but make sure you submit documents to prove that your situation as regards to sufficient money has changed.

Good Luck

Canadian study visa refusal decision because i haven't enough money
by: mmad

Good Evening

Days ago I received refusal letter for my study visa because the immigration officer was not convinced that I have enough money for my stay in Canada.

My program of study will be for 3 years and I have in my bank account 22000 CAD.

What is the amount of money that I need to have for 3 years, and is it helpful to have a sponsorship letter from my cousin that lives in Canada ?

Thanks for helping
mmad

Hi Mmad

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer)

Re amount of monet needed for your studies in Canada - According to Canada citizenship and immigration you will require approximately $10 000 Canadian per year, not including tuition fees, to cover your living expenses. If your dependants are planning to accompany or join you, you will require an additional $4 000 for the first dependant, and $3 000 for each subsequent dependant, in addition to return airfare.

As regards to a sponsorship letter - According to Canada citizenship and immigration guidelines, if you are funding your studies in whole or in part through a sponsor?s savings, it is in your interest to provide your sponsor?s banking records for the 24 months prior to your application

Best of luck

CAN I APPLY IN THE SAME MONTH TWICE
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Mmad

According to Canada citizenship and immigration If your circumstances have changed appreciably and you believe that it would result in a different decision, you may wish to reapply for a Canadian student visa.

If, however, there is no change in your situation, then it is unlikely that your application would result in the issuance of a Study Permit.

They do not say anything about applying at the same month twice. I would therefore suggest that you contact the Canadian Embassy in India and check it with them directly

THE Main idea
by: Anonymous

Thank you for responding again.

But the idea is that I have been refused only for
lack of money.

I had 22000 Dollars in the bank and this week I will put more money until I reach 60000 Dollar

So is that alright and can apply again in this month?

Thank you

Same in case of everyone...
by: Dhaliwal

Don't worry...they do write the same reason for refusal to everyone...thats not you only who is refused with that reason. Consult someone who is expert in the field of immigration or take the admission in a college which has connections with the universities abroad. If you live in India then i recommend you to take admission in CIIS (Continental Institute for International Studies), Address : NH 1, Javehra Village, District: Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab (INDIA). They have 100% visa success rate...

Hi

According to CIC - "If your circumstances have changed appreciably and you believe that it would result in a different decision, you may wish to reapply".

From the information you provided it seems that your circumstamnces have changed so you can try to reapply for a Canadian student Visa
