Student visa and spouse visa

by Dorcas
(India)

Hi sharon,

I'm from India. I'm planning to apply for a student visa. I'm married I want my spouse also accompany me. How do we apply for him?

I have heard that if he applies with me the chances of both the visas getting rejected are high( as the immigration officer might think that we both are planning for a permanent settlement).

Can u please suggest me the best way for me and my spouse to apply?

Regards,
Dorcas

Student visa and spouse visa to Canada
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Dorcas

Thanks (Please note that I am not an immigration officer)

In the Canadian Student Visa Application you are requested to indicate your martial status so the Canadian immigration will probably wonder about your spouse's plans.

In General - according to Canada immigration your family members who wish to come with you to Canada must apply by filling out their own temporary residence application (visitor, student or worker). You may send yur spouse application forms in the same envelope with only one payment receipt for the total amount.

In addition you must provide proof that you will be able to support your spouse and you will likely be required to provide proof of additional funding and/ or savings.

Your spouse will also be required to demonstrate to a visa officer that they have sufficient ties to India to ensure their departure from Canada

Best of Luck
Sharon
