Hi all

We would love to know if our children would be allowed to enter into the schooling system in Canada if we were to stay there for a six/twelve month period on a work visa?

Thanks for your inquiry.

I would like to emphasize that I am not an immigration officer, however I looked into your question and found the following:

First, you have to make sure that you included your dependent children on your work permit application and that they are authorized to enter Canada with you.

If you did not include them in your application, then you can apply for their entry to Canada on a separate application. More information about the procedure can be found here.

In most cases minor kids of parents who hold a Canadian work permit are allowed to attend pre-school, primary or secondary school. If your kids are 18 or 19 years old (depending on the province or territory) they must apply for a Canadian study permit if they want to continue their studies in Canada.
