Requirments and Fees to Study Nursing in OZ

by Nikki Pallas
(England)

Hi Sharon

I am currently working in care home and studying a level 3 NVQ in Health and social care, this will gain me entry into uni in the UK to study nursing; however I spent just over a year on a working holiday in Australia and loved it.

My aunt and uncle are Australian. I was wondering is there any way you can study nursing with this experience i.e. - the NVQ? Also are all the fees for international students in nursing around $22,000?

Is there a TAFE I can take to get into Australia in nursing that may not cost as much and then apply for a perm visa?

I am very sure I would like to live in Australia but I would like to go back there now to start my studies, its just the cost is far to much... hope you can help, any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated

Many Thanks
Nikki

Requirments and Fees to Study Nursing in OZ

Hi Nikki

Thanks for your inquiry. Please note that I am not an immigration officer.

You have 2 options to study nursing in Australia ? Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse.

To become a Registered Nurse you need to complete a Bachelor of Nursing, which is available at most Australian universities. To become an Enrolled Nurse you need to complete a Diploma in Nursing or a Certificate IV in Nursing at a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) or vocational institution.

You can find more information at the Australian Government site for studying in Australia. On the website you can search for a course .

You can then find out what is the tuition and check if you are eligible for any kind of scholarships.

Please note that as a holder of a student visa in Australia you can apply for permission to work part time. This can help with paying the school tuition

After completion of your studies you may be eligible for the Australian Government skilled migration program which targets young people who have skills, an education and outstanding abilities that will contribute to the Australian economy.

Best of Luck
Sharon
