Relocating abroad is much more than moving to a new country. It is also moving to a
new city. Therefore other than researching and collecting essential information about your new country, it is important to obtain all relevant data about the city you will be moving and relocating to.
You would need to know where are the shopping centers, hospitals, restaurants, etc'. How to find a reliable real estate agents or a property manager? What are the best and most appropriate schools for your kids? How to use the public transportation and how to find a doctor?

Now imagine, that after two years of living overseas you were requested to relocate to a new city in the same country. Although you are familiar with the country, you will still need to do some research about your new location.
This happened to couple of our friends; one couple had to move from Ottawa to Montreal, and the other from Ottawa to Toronto. Although both cities are located in Canada, for them it felt like a whole new relocating abroad adventure.
So, when you are relocating overseas don't concentrate only on getting to know the country, but also research the destination city. Find out data about accommodation and property, medical treatment, employment, public transportation, schools, shopping, leisure and entertainment, etc'. This will pave your way to a smooth and easy expatriate life.
