Jamaican Status and Citizenship

by Barbara
(UK)

Hello Sharon

I am british born of Jamaican father and British mother.

I lived, schooled and worked in Jamaica and have a tax/NIS code.

I gave up my Jamaican passport in 1979 for a British passport but now wish to return to Jamaica (possibly to work).

Where do I stand regards work permits and passports? Can I have dual nationality?

Many thanks
Barbara

Jamaican Status and Citizenship
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Barbara

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer)

I searched the Jamaican Passport immigration and citizenship agency website and they offer restoration of citizenship service. In addition both Jamaica and the United Kingdom recognize dual citizenship.

To find out how to proceed I suggest that you contact the Jamaican High Commission in United Kingdom or PICA - Jamaican Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency

Best of Luck
Sharon
