International pet travel and paying in advance via western union

by K
(Canada)

Hi Sharon

I’m supposed to send money through western union for 2 Yorkies coming from Brussels, Belgium through Brussels delivery service.

Is this a scam?

Thanks, K

Dear K

Thanks for your inquiry.

I do not know about your specific case, however western union has published on their website a
list of common types of fraud
amongst them is what they call

Internet Purchases

"Victims are told to send money for a product, auction item or service to the seller. The ‎fraudster will use a number of tactics to make you believe they are legitimate, but once ‎the victim sends the money they will not receive the purchased item or service."

They also offers tips to protect yourself from fraud

You can contact Western Union at 1-800-448-1492 if you have additional questions.

Best of Luck
Sharon
