Information about Moving to Jamaica

by Dereen
(England)

Hi Sharon

I'm a 32 years old lady with two children. I live in the UK. I've been back and forth from Jamaica since 1997.

My plans are to live out there.

What do I need to do to became a Jamaican reseident?

Thanks, Dereen

Information about Moving to Jamaica

Hi Dereen,

Thanks for your inquiry (Please note that I am not an immigration officer)

According to the Jamaican High Commission in the U.K you can became a Jamaican Citizen by Naturalization if

  1. You have lived in Jamaica for a minimum of five years immediately preceding submission of the application.

  2. have a good character

  3. Are financially solvent.

So you can start by applying for a work permit in Jamaica. This will give you the opportunity to live in Jamaica and to meet the first requirement

Information on how to obtain a Jamaican work permit can be found at the website of the Jamaican High commission in the U.K.

Best of Luck
Sharon
