Including family along with Canadian student visa

by Margaret
(U.S.A)

Hi!

I am an American planning to study in Canada.

My husband is Brazilian and was previously deported from the U.S. just for lack of paper work (nothing criminal).

I know that in theory my husband and our infant son have the right to come with me while I study but I am just wondering how things change with where his nationality differs from mine and if his previous deportation is relevent to a Canadian visit.

Thank you in advance for your advice.
Margaret

Including family along with Canadian student visa

Dear Margaret

Thanks for your inquiry (Please note that I am not an immigration officer)

You will probably need to present a notarized marriage certificate to the Canadian embassy and your spouse will have to apply for a visa with his Brazilian passport.

As regards to his deportation from the U.S.A - The consulate of Canada in Buffalo has published on their website who is considered inadmissible to Canada.

For more information you can contact one of the Canadian consulates in the U.S.A

Best of Luck
Sharon
