Gap in Studies and a Study Permit to Canada

by Muhammad Shakeel
(Pakistan)

Hello Sharon

I have done fcs in medical in 2007.

I want to apply to study in Canada in 2011

Will there be a problem with my study gap from 2007 to 2011?

Thanks
Muhammad Shakeel

Gap in Studies and a Study Permit to Canada
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Muhammad Shakeel

Thanks for your inquiry (Please note that I am not an immigration officer).

Each university has its own requirements so the first thing you need to do is search for a program in Canada that best matches your needs. Check the acceptance requirements and find out if they mention anything regarding a study gap.

After you are accepted by a university in Canada you would need to apply for a study permit at the Canadian Embassy.

The Canadian immigration officer would probably ask what you were doing from 2007 until 2011 to check if you worked in a field that is related to your previous studies and/or your intended studies. It will of course increase your chances to be granted a study permit to Canada if there is a direct link between them.

Best of Luck
Sharon
