fund needed for me and my husband

by Sunita
(Glasgow)

Dear Saron,

I am sunita. You had already given me advice regarding visa application and that was great it has guided me a lot. thank you for that.

We have a bit of confusion. I have got 21000 CAD scholarship as Research assistant. Do I need to show any other proof of fund as well? If yes how much will be sufficient?

I am applying from UK. My husband is also applying with me and we are not clear how much is the processing fees that needed to be paid . Could you please make me clear regarding the fees to be paid for both of us.

Thank you in advance.I always read the blogs send by you and it has been great.

Yours Sincerely
Sunita

fund proof needed for me and my husband in our Canadian visa application
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Dear Sunita

Thanks Sunita for your kind words (please remember that I am not an immigration officer).

As for your question about proof of fund -according to Canada citizenship and immigration you would need to show that you can support yourself and the family member that accompany you while you are in Canada. For a full year you will need your tuition fee plus 14,000 CAD (10,000 CAD for yourself + 4000 CAD for your spouse).

You did not indicate if the 21,000 CAD is for one or two years, Does it include the tuition fee.

Anyway, I believe that it is better to present all the proof of funds that you have to support your Canadian student visa application

Proof of funds can be

  1. proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada
  2. Your bank statements for the past four months

  3. A bank draft in convertible currency

  4. Proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees

  5. A letter from the person or institution providing you with money; and

  6. Proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program.

Re processing fee - You can find full information about the requested fee in here

In general, the fee for a Canadian student visa application (which includes also temporary resident visa if required) is 125 CAD or 75 GBP

As for your husband application fee - it depends on the category of his Canadian visa application.

Best of Luck
Sharon
