Extending medical insurance for children on Canadian study visas

Hi Sharon

I am the legal guardian of 3 orphaned children, aged 15 and twins of 13 who are currently residing in Ontario with their cousins family, on a 2 year study visa.

There is some concern that they cannot renew their private medical cover for a second year...this seems unusual but is it a restriction placed on insurance companies by Ontario?

We are hoping to gain at least permanent residency status for the children, but as this may not be effective before their insurance expires I am concerned that they may have to leave Canada ...Can you shed any light on the insurance issue ?
