Divorce Abroad

by Anonymous

I live in Florida, my husband lives in London. We reached a mutual decision to get a divorce. Our problem is that all the paperwork must be notarized IN the country.

How can we arrange for that?

P.S - I can't afford a lawyer, and any sort of information I've gotten from the courthouse hasn't been very helpful.

Thanks a lot!

Hi

Your question is very important. Many people feel overwhelmed when they need to deal with bureaucracy and formal documents in another country.

Please ask your husband to go to the Embassy of the USA in London. Most embassies provide a service of Notarizing Documents, and these documents should be accepted by the U.S.A court

For more information you can search the website of the U.S.A Embassy in London.

Other than that it is extremely important to gather as much information as you can about getting a divorce and about the challenges which you are about to face.

You can start by reading The Woman's Guide to Divorce . An excellent guide for helping women survive divorce and rebuild their lives.

Good Luck and hopefully it won't be too complicated
