Dear Sharon

I am a student from Sri Lanka.

I am planning to study in Canada and my uncle is sponsoring me.

I want to know how many months bank balance does my uncle have to show.

My dad applied for a visitor visa to Canada to attend a wedding and was refused.

Will that affect me when I am applying?

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer.

The High Commission of Canada in Colombo has made arrangements with TT Services to provide visa application services.

The Visa Application Centre is responsible for receiving applications, reviewing them for completeness according to the online guidelines of the High Commission of Canada, and forwarding them to the High Commission in Colombo.

All visa applications will continue to be assessed by visa officers at the High Commission.

I would therefore suggest that you contact the visa application center and check directly with them how many bank statements your uncle will need to present.

As regards to your second question -

On the application form you will be asked if you or any member of your family ever been refused admission to, or ordered to leave Canada?

When deciding if to grant you a student visa to Canada or not the Canadian immigration officer evaluate and consider all factors. As I am not an immigration officer I can?t tell you if the refusal of your father?s visa application will affect your application.
