Hi Sharon

I was accepted into University in Canada, and was wondering if my spouse can accompany me to Canada and do I have to include her on my Canadian student visa application?

Thanks
Roberto

Canadian Student Visa - Can Spouses Accompany the Visa Holder to Canada
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Hi Roberto

Thanks for your e-mail and good luck with the visa application

Before I continue I would like to emphasize that I am not an immigration officer.

I did some research and found out that your spouse
or common law partner can either accompany you to Canada or they may join you at a later date.

Your spouse must meet all the requirements for temporary residents in Canada, and must satisfy an officer that he/she is genuine temporary resident who will be in Canada for a temporary stay.

In addition your spouse may be required to provide a no criminal record certificate.

When filling out your Canadian student visa application make sure to Include your spouse by providing name and other information in the appropriate space on the application form.

If your spouse wish to follow you to Canada at a later date, he/she must make a separate application for admission.

You and your spouse might not be eligible for health care in Canada, therefore make sure to consult your university and/or to research international health insurance possibilities.

You can start by consulting the following expatriates health insurance companies:

Global Medical Insurance.

MultiNational Underwriters .

Good Luck
Sharon
