Canada Student Visa Applications - Tips and Suggestions

by Arun Babu
(Vancouver, Canada )

Hi to all

I applied for a Canadian study permit on December 2010 and received a Student Visa to Canada. I am now studying at the University in Vancouver, BC, Canada

I would like to share my story and to offer some tips for those who worries about Canadian student visa refusal. I hope it will help you

At the beginning I applied for F-1 US visa but got refused 3 times. Then I decided to research and to find out what are the criteria for visa issuance and/or visa refusal.

Basically, there is a difference between USA & Canada and the rest of the world. USA and Canada are the top destinations for international students and immigrants.

Let's talk about Canada – Canada is a country of immigrants. It welcomes immigrants and benefits from their talents, experience and energy. However, if you apply for a study permit and think about it as a way to immigrate to Canada this is where your problems begin!

In many instances applicants tried to abuse the Canadian visa processing system and to immigrate to Canada under a Student visa. Therefore Canada started to look at everyone as an intended immigrant and to check thoroughly all student visa applications.

It is therefore your responsibility to prove that you have no such intention. You can do this by preparing your paper works carefully and filling out the student visa application properly; specify your past education, work experience, financial ability, parent's job, your age, family structure, movements abroad, criminal activity and any important backgrounds information.

All this will help to determine if you are a genuine person, whose intentions are to study in Canada.

Here are some tips and things to consider before filling out the Canadian student visa application:

1. Do not try this if you were an average student in the past.

2. Don't do this for changing education/field.

3. Don't do this if you don't have back-end support.

4. Prefer a longer period of study.

5. Read the application carefully.

6. Make sure you have a proof to show for everything you write.

7. It is better to have some work experience.

8. Selection of university and place is important.

9. Don't wish for a big degree in low cost.

10. Mostly avoid selecting short term courses.

11. Mostly select a university that request a deposit.

12. You should have a bank balance on your name.

13. IELTS score on first attempt is influential. If you wish to prepare thoroughly for the IELTS exam you can use the IETLS test study guide. This excellent guide will teach you step by step how to pass successfully the IELTS test.

14. Be ready to respond after you applied at any time.

If your student visa application to Canada was refused because of immigrant purpose reasons, I am sorry to say this but do not apply again and again and do not waste your time and money.

The world is so big...You can try applying to other countries, or stop and stay where you are.

My advice may help you, however keep in mind that I am not an expert.

I succeeded with my Canadian student visa application, but each case varies. So make sure to think before you apply.

My best wishes for all.
God Bless You !!!
Arun Babu

Hi

I am glad for your info and am also looking forward on applying a Canadian student visa but my question is does Canadian embassy require an applicant to have money that will cover him/her for the duration of the entire years of his course as a definition of financial ability or the minimum amount of 11000 per year a living expenses plus the payment of tuition fee of a first semester
