Can I study in Canada if I hold a Spouse Visa to Canada?

by Kamala
(Australia)

Hi Sharon

I am a student of hospitality management. I almost finished my studies.

I have done three years of nursing diploma in India and three years of computer diploma.

I want to continue my studies in Canada.

Please suggest how I can study in Canada with a spouse visa.

Thanks, Kamala

Hi Kamala

Thanks for your e-mail

Please note that I am not an immigration officer

I have found out the following information:

Holder of a valid work or study permits and their family members may apply for a study permit from within Canada.

When applying for a student visa you must
provide:

  1. A letter, registration paper or form from the education institution which shows:

    • Confirmation of your acceptance and/or registration as a student.

    • The course of study; how many courses you will be taking and/or how many hours you will attend each week (not required if you are attending a university or college.

    • Intended start date and when you expect to finish the academic program

    • Any condition related to your acceptance or registration

  2. Proof of financial support while you study in Canada. You must prove you have enough money (in Canadian funds) to support yourself while you study in Canada. This can include:

    • A bank statement or a letter from a Canadian bank showing how much money you have in your bank account (must indicate your name and the account number.

    • A copy of the letter giving the details about your scholarship or Canadian-funded educational program (such as a CIDA program).

    • A letter from a person (describe the relationship to you) who is giving you financial help, explaining the arrangements made for your expenses.

More information can be found at Citizenship's and Immigration Canada

Good Luck

Applying for a Canadian Student visa with Family
by: Anonymous

Hi Sharon

I want to apply for study visa in Canada but I am a housewife and I have three children ages twelve and a half years, ten and a half years and a one and half year old baby.

My husband is also there. I can't live without them and they also can't live without me. With this study visa I want work permission for myself and for my husband.

Please reply and advice if it is possible or not through any way.

Thanks a lot

Hi

Thanks for your inquiry. Please note that I am not an immigration officer.

There are some details missing in your inquiry such as - What kind of visa does your husband hold in Canada - Student, Visitor etc'?

When did your spouse arrive to Canada?

In which country are you and your kids living?

Did your spouse indicate on his Canadian visa application that he has a wife and 3 kids?

Please provide more details

Sharon

What do I need to prove to show I have money for my 6 month stay, to enter Canada with my Canadian wife?
by: Anonymous

Hi

I recently applied for a Temporary Resident Visa... I will be entering with my Canadian wife, and staying with her mother for only 6 months.

Her mother has stated in the letter that she will cover all costs, food, clothes and everything.
I put on the application that I will bring $7000 and I want to know... upon entry how do I prove I have $7000 to the Entry Officers?

Do I need to have a Canadian Bank account and show my funds from there?
or should I use my own account here?
or a travelers check? is the acceptable?

What can I do to show that I have money if I take an international visa?

How do I show money on that? Because that is what I am thinking and I do not wish to be sent back to my country and leave my wife in Canada

Will they send me back, I am just visiting and I have money and I have a letter saying that her mother will pay everything?

Thank you so much

Dear Sir

Thanks for your inquiry (please note that I am not an immigration officer).

Before you recieve your temporary visa you will need to satisfy a visa officer that you have sufficient funds available for your stay, without working.

You can do this by providing yours, your parents? or your sponsor?s (your wife's mother) banking records for the 24 months prior to your application.

Best of Luck
Sharon
