by Jackie
(U.K)

Hi

My father is a diplomat , and I was querying if I could work in Canada whilst visiting if I have the authorization or does my father have to be in Canada?

Thanks
Jackie

Can a Diplomat's Family Member Work in Canada?
by: Sharon - Expats Guide

Hi Jackie

Thanks for your inquiry.

I am not an immigration officer.

I did some research and found the following information:

Accredited family members of diplomatic agents and those whose status is equivalent to a diplomat can work in Canada without a work permit.

These people must have written authorization from the Office of Protocol of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.

The authorization is in the form of a note when it comes from an embassy or high commission. It is in the form of a letter when it comes from an international organization.

For more information, please consult the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada website.

Good Luck
Sharon Gilor
